With this program, author James Jordan distinguishes himself from the majority of his fellow bodybuilding writers:
Jordan actually has something to say.
Rather than just slapping together a few pages of sloppy copy and calling it a comprehensive look at mass gain strategy, Jordan has actually taken the time to present a comprehensive look at mass gain strategy. This is a well-written, well-researched, detailed program for physique building.
Jordan covers dieting first. His dieting section is longer than most programs in their entirety. But it isn’t the volume of words that is impressive, it is the volume of wisdom presented.
Jordan doesn’t gloss over anything. He takes you thoroughly through the basics of dieting for both muscle gain and for fat loss. Then he takes you on into advanced techniques such as carb cycling. He prepares trainers for the adjustments they will need to make due to their individuality and instructs them on how to do so properly.
The end result of this extensive bodybuilding dieting section is that beginners get an excellent base to work from. Experienced trainers are also bound to learn some new things to incorporate into their dieting practices.
Jordan’s “Underground Mass Secrets” training program is based on a four-phase plan that includes various intensity builder methods and even a sprinkle of static contraction training. Jordan takes the most effective parts of the various proven effective training approaches and blends them into solid mass gain strategy.
It is a well-reasoned, sound plan of attack that varies your training to prevent adaptation, steers you away from overtraining and keeps the focus on muscle growth.
Provided are detailed routines for trainers who train at home, those who train with a Bowflex and those who train in a commercial gym. I’m not a Bowflex fan but there are plenty who are (you should see my in-box) and its nice to see some solid training information being thrown their way.
As with the routines being broken down by a trainer’s gym capabilities, Jordan consistently demonstrates throughout the ebook that he knows his audience. He understands why they have stumbled in the past and what they need to know to get to their goals. His passion and enthusiasm for the subject matter is contagious and motivating.
My only complaint with the base book is that in places in the ebook there were references that I had trouble finding (leftover from a previous version?) and so a little editing would be nice.
3 of 5 Stars: I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the base book to beginners and intermediates. James Jordan is innovative but not to the point of being different just to try and stand out. His ideas and suggestions are well-grounded and of value to trainers.
As you can tell, I really like James Jordan’s stuff. However, I can never really tell what is up with him. In the past he has written me and relayed displeasure that “Underground Mass Secrets” didn’t rank higher in my reviews. The reason it was never ranked higher is because I could never find a stable place consistently selling it.
James seems to come online with a burst and then disappear just as quickly (his websites go down). Over and over again. At the time of this writing, I am getting a lot of emails from him (I’m on his list) but I can’t really tell what the heck he is doing. It doesn’t appear he is selling “Underground Mass Secrets” but rather other products.
In the mean time, if you can find “Underground Mass Secrets to Shock Your Body Into Explosive Growth Spurts”, it really is a good read.
