I’m a big Sean Nalewanyj fan. He knows his stuff and he is good at helping others train to big-time results.
For a while, he moved away from training. He started a supplement company which produced a line of high-quality supplements for serious trainers.
Now he has returned his focus to what he calls his “true passion”, helping others train for fast results.
This is good news for those looking to transform their bodies.
The Body Transformation Blueprint (BTB) is his new program. This is a complete training system covering both muscle building and fat loss.
To be honest, when I first learned that BTB was attempting to cover both ends of the fitness spectrum, it made me cringe.
As a former skinny guy, and for the purposes of this site, I’m interested in how well a program delivers a solid mass gain plan. This was something that Nalewanyj’s previous programs (“The Truth About Building Muscle” and “Muscle Gain Truth No-Fail System”) did exceedingly well.
I feared that by splitting its focus, Body Transformation Blueprint was going to lose the impact of Nalewanyj’s message.
I’ve reviewed many programs that try to be all things to all people. In trying to cover muscle gain and fat loss, they often end up covering neither satisfactorily. They over-complicate and leave trainers confused.
I was pleased to find BTB did a good job of separating the two phases. Most importantly, it didn’t short-change either one.
The program’s main ebook covers the 5 essential components of a results-producing program:
- Weight Training
- Supplements (optional)
- Progress Tracking
It isn’t a quick read, weighing in at a hefty 269 pages. It also isn’t a page-turner; it’s well-written but it reads a little dry.
It is, however, THOROUGH.
Nalewanyj doesn’t miss a thing… He doesn’t just cover what exercises to do; he covers the specifics on how to do them and even the specific time of day to workout. He doesn’t just cover what you need to eat and how to structure your diet; he provides practical plans for making your diet doable.
A central tenet of the program is individualization.
Rarely are any programs followed to the letter. People have unique circumstances (time constraints, equipment limitations, dietary issues etc.). And people have different goals…
Beyond choosing your primary goal of gaining muscle or losing fat, further individualizing the Body Transformation Blueprint to your needs and wants is practical. Nalewanyj explains the program factors in-depth and he does something many trainers fail to do…
He lets you know exactly how important (or unimportant) everything he teaches will be to your success.
This may seem like a small thing but it is important.
It makes BTB not just flexible, but flexible while remaining effective.
With an understanding of the relative importance of the factors that go into the BTB, those that can’t follow it to the letter can competently alter their programs.
You understand, for example, it will be extremely important to train your legs heavy. There is no getting around this. On the other hand, while training late in the day when your body is at its strongest may give a boost to results, it isn’t going to be a huge factor.
Nalewanyj delivers many second and third-best options (different diet plans and diet-tracking methods, alternate workout schedules, etc.). It’s clear by everything he covers and the way he covers it that he has been at this a while; he knows what people need to succeed and he proves adept at providing it.
BTB’s coverage of supplements is also noteworthy.
Like everything in the Body Transformation Blueprint Program Nalewanyj covers them from a science-based perspective. And when you cover supplements from a science-based perspective (as opposed to the hype-based perspective the supplement companies wish you’d stick to), they don’t come off so well.
Nalewanyj learned some stuff from his foray into the supplement industry. He does a great job of explaining the industry and its marketing ploys. He identifies the limited supplements that can help and provides a cost-effective supplement plan.
Another emphasis of the program that I have to give props to is progress tracking.
I’m big into progress tracking. It can make a huge difference in your results. In my opinion, too many trainers don’t know how to track and see their training stall because of it.
Nalewanyj explains all the ways to track how your program is performing and provides several tools to help. Beyond that, he goes the extra step of explaining how to interpret and make adjustments to your program based on your tracking.
A final thing I want to make sure and highlight is the fact that you get Nalewanyj’s private email address with the program.
If you have questions about individualizing the program, making adjustments off your tracking or anything at all, he is going to get back with you within 48 hrs.
Few programs these days provide direct, personal access to their authors. Those that do are typically authored by trainers of limited experience.
Having someone the caliber of Sean Nalewanyj in your contact list can pay off. Like I said earlier, the guy knows his stuff.
5 of 5 Stars: BTB is thorough and well-organized. Nalewanyj packs a lot of information in and does so without confusing the reader. The companion ebooks (NoFail Workout System, NoFail MealPlan, etc.) add value and help tie everything together.
As mentioned, Body Transformation Blueprint isn’t the liveliest of reads. I attribute this to the fact that it is virtually free of fluff. Fluff, rants and the like can entertain but they won’t help you build muscle.
Nalewanyj’s style is more Joe Friday — “Just the facts, ma’am”. Or as he puts it in his intro, “Everything you need, nothing you don’t. Plain and simple.”
Whether your primary goal is to gain muscle mass or lose fat, BTB provides a complete education. It puts you on a plan to go after that goal in the most efficient way possible.
